Hey welcome back everybody. Hope you all are doing great. In today’s blog I am going to do a product review on a hair mask targeted for hair fall control. It’s the Mamaearth Onion Hair Mask. We all love our hair no matter how bad or unmanageable it gets. As soon as our hair starts falling, we just try in every way possible to try and stop our hair fall. At least that’s what happens in normal cases.
Mamaearth is India’s fastest growing brand and Asia’s first brand to get the MadeSafe certification for toxin-free products. So I really wanted to try out their products and I got this hair mask as I was suffering from hair fall. Before I start, please be aware that this is not a sponsored review. Now let’s get on to the review.
The two main contents of the mask are onion oil and organic bamboo vinegar. Onion has high Sulphur content and Sulphur has proven to extend the growth phase of your hair. It helps in hair growth and treating and relieving various scalp conditions like dandruff and psoriasis. The main reason I switched from applying onion juice on hair to an onion mask is due to the strong onion smell that’s left behind even after shampooing and conditioning. Organic Bamboo vinegar acts as a mild disinfectant as it has anti-bacterial properties and boosts blood circulation. It also helps to soften hair. Adding to this, it contains rosemary oil, cedarwood oil and coconut oil, all of which promote hair growth and improves the health of your scalp
Price: I got this hair mask for Rs.599 for 200g from Nykaa. I personally feel that the price could have been a little more reasonable. But since it is made with good quality and toxin-free ingredients, I wouldn’t complain.
Packaging: This product comes in a typical round container for hair mask with a tight lid.
Consistency and smell: It has a slightly thick consistency and does not have any onion smell. It has a nice fresh fragrance that I like, but it could be slightly overpowering for those sensitive to smell. I personally like the smell and the product has an IFRA certified allergen free fragrance.
Product Claims: Reduces hair fall, repairs damaged hair, makes hair healthy and nourished and reduces frizz.
Patch test is recommended and it is mentioned on the product that the results may vary.
I started using this product around 2 months ago. I was not that happy with this product after my first use as there was no reduction in hair fall and my hair seemed a little dried out. My scalp felt really fresh and energized though. However after 3 to 4 uses, I found a significant reduction in hair fall and my damaged and weak hair was gradually starting to feel stronger. But it did not tame my frizz much. So I apply a leave-in conditioner after shampooing and stepping out of shower. It did get rid of dandruff too.
I apply this product on damp to wet hair and use a wooden wide toothed, seamless detangling comb to even out the product from roots to tips and to detangle my hair. The product is much easier to apply on wet hair. It is important to use a seamless wide toothed brush when combing wet hair as otherwise it would lead to hair breakage.
I would have given it a 5 if it would have controlled my Frizz and made my hair more manageable. But it does a good job in controlling hair fall and making it healthier which is more expected from a hair fall control mask. I am happy as long as my hair fall is controlled as the first thing you need to have is hair on your head to control frizz. Jokes apart, I definitely would recommend this product.
