Not many are aware of its benefits apart from relieving nausea and its uplifting scent. I feel this essential oil is often overlooked and only recently has it gained its popularity in beauty.
So let me start by telling you what peppermint essential oil (PEO) is. Peppermint plant is a hybrid between watermint and spearmint and peppermint oil is extracted from this plant. The strongest and concentrated form of oil is the essential oil which is derived using modern distillation techniques. Peppermint essential oil contains the highest concentration of menthol and it is the presence of menthol in peppermint oil that makes peppermint oil so beneficial.

In a recent scientific study conducted, peppermint essential oil even outperformed minoxidil (an effective and FDA approved product for hair growth and preventing hair loss) not to mention jojoba oil as well. Peppermint essential oil showed the most effective hair growth and follicle density and depth. It also increased the dermal thickness.
I was pleasantly surprised to know that peppermint oil was the winner as minoxidil is a proven hair growth product, but due to its various side effects, I never wanted to use it.
